KIT Royal Tropical Institute has a vacancy for a Junior Epidemiologist for approximately 38 hours a week (part-time negotiable too). The epidemiology team at KIT consists of a diverse group of public health professionals, coming from various professional backgrounds, but with a strong common interest and expertise in quantitative data analysis and research.
The work of the KIT epidemiology team focuses on the measurement and evaluation of health interventions and the generation of evidence to inform policy and planning. Working with international partners and donors, the team develops data collection tools and analytical approaches to estimate disease burden and health care needs which are used to optimize resource allocation to optimize universal health coverage. The team is active in the fields of health systems strengthening among others through capacity building and training.
The team has a strong track record applying geo-spatial analysis, complex-survey-design analysis as well as innovative statistical approaches to integrate and analyze health data from various sources. While this capacity is cornerstone to the work we do, other, less complex analytical approaches and innovative data visualizations are also used to improve the understanding and uptake of our results.
We work closely with our global partners (ministries, NGO’s, multilateral and international organizations) to ensure that the methods and tools we develop and apply are sustainable and accessible to our partners. In addition, we offer annual short courses in M&E and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to train health professionals from around the world in the use of the analytical approaches and techniques we apply in our work.
The work takes place majorly at KIT’s office in Amsterdam but also, from home or other places when necessary. It will eventually require travelling for short assignments to different low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our organisation’s working language is English.
