The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated senior (RANZCOG trainee) with an interest in leadership and management to join Palmerston North Hospital as chief registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Main duties of the chief registrar
This appointment includes full clinical responsibilities in a Senior O&G Registrar position with participation in the on call rota.

Specifics of the clinical component of the role can be tailored to the applicant to assist them in their career aspirations and completion of RANZCOG advance training modules and opportunities to teach and supervise junior staff.

This is a fully supported role. The main administration responsibilities relate to collaboration with RMOs, senior clinicians (including the Clinical Executive, Medical Lead of Women’s Health, the supervisor of training and the Chief Medical Officer) the gynaecology charge nurses and the midwifery manager as well as the cluster’s Operations Executive and the MAU. It is a Junior Clinical Leadership position and as such provides a unique introduction to clinical governance, service organizational issues and workforce management (including day to day management of the RMO rosters).

About the department
Our unit provides exposure to advanced laparoscopic surgery, colposcopy, outpatient hysteroscopy, urogynaecology, high risk pregnancy, labour ward management and obstetric ultrasound. Options for audit and research are available.
