A busy medical practice in Pietermaritzburg seeks to employee an Administration Clerk/ Receptionist .
This is a day shift position which include some weekend shifts
Duties:
Accounts
- Debtor Collection- following up on outstanding debts, phoning patients to make payment arrangements, follow up on payments and handing over bad debt to collection agencies.
- General accounts admin as assigned by supervisor
- Filing and record keeping
- Assist as a leave backup to other accounts department staff
- Assists team members with an overflow of work within the department
Reception Duties
- Opening of patient files
- Correctly filing files
- Capturing and verifying patient details on the billing system,
- Conduct billing validations and ensure medical aid options are correct
- Greet patient on arrival
- Direct patients to the respective departments
- Answers telephone calls and assists patients
- Make appointments for patients with doctors
- Draw patients’ files in time for appointments
- Draw files for clinical visits and direct patients to nurses’ station for their clinical visits
- Escort patients to accounts together with the patient file when patients have account queries
Requirements
- Minimum qualification of a Matric
- Previous customer service and debtors experience
- Experience in a medical practice or institution would be an advantage
- Assertive

- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersaonal skills
