SEO Specialist [Canada]

Digital Commerce Partners is a fully remote SEO & content marketing agency based in Toronto. We grew out of a partnership between the creative content pioneers at Copyblogger and an SEO-obsessed marketer.

We’re a little different than most SEO agencies. We prefer fewer clients and better relationships.

Our clients work with us because we’re really good at one thing: Driving conversions with organic traffic.

(No paid traffic, no backlink outreach, no social media.)

This role is for you if you’re serious about SEO and you want to work with a small, high-performing team.

About our company:

Our seasoned SEO and content professionals work on dedicated teams, with a helpful and collaborative approach. We currently have people logging in from around North America and Europe (or anywhere else they want to be).

Our clients lean towards, but aren’t exclusively, selling digital products – books, courses, and communities. We work with world-renowned authors, internationally recognized non-profits, and some of the largest music training communities in the world.

You can expect to work on a small number of client sites – along with opportunities to test new strategies on company-owned affiliate assets.

What we strive for in our work:

  • Better communication, fewer meetings. We value each other’s time, focus, and energy. Get things done, then close the laptop and live your life.
  • Client goals are our goals. We succeed when clients succeed — delivering results is our reason for being.
  • Generate ideas, not excuses. We figure things out together. Don’t get stuck — get curious and collaborate.
  • Keep it simple and take action. Instead of overthinking or avoiding difficult problems, we make decisions and act.

How you’ll spend your time as SEO Specialist:

  • 80% SEO Research, Strategy, & Execution
  • 10% Training & Processes
  • 5% Reporting
  • <5% Meetings on Zoom

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Keyword research and analysis
  • Mapping existing and new content to Content Conversion Funnels
  • Performing content audits and technical audits
  • Identifying SEO opportunities and issues, taking the initiative to help clients get results
  • Collaborating with senior team members to develop SEO strategy
  • Collaborating with the content team to implement SEO strategy (creating article briefs, aligning search intent with client goals, recommending content upgrades)
  • Reporting on wins (and losses) and monthly progress
  • Using SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMRush, Screaming Frog, ChatGPT, etc.)
  • Creating reports in Google Data Studio

Requirements for the role:

  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience (agency, in-house, or growing your own websites)
  • Thorough SEO knowledge (tactical, technical, on-page, off-page)
  • Ability to work proactively and independently on established goals
  • Fantastic time management & organization
  • Willingness to follow established processes and develop new ones
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Contribution to a friendly and supportive team environment!
  • Experience with the following tools:

WordPress
G-Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Data Studio)
Google Analytics
Google Search Console
Ahrefs & SEMRush

Bonus points for any of the following:

  • Obsession with SEO trends and tactics: We are looking for someone who enjoys reading SEO newsletters, following industry leaders, and participating in the SEO community.
  • Experience running your own website: A passion for testing out SEO strategies and content for a personal blog, affiliate site, or side business will be an asset in this role.
  • Agency experience: Having some experience working in an organized environment, and following project management and communication protocols will help you adjust to our team’s way of working.
  • Client-facing experience: If you enjoy working directly with clients, you’ll have opportunities to take on more responsibility for client relationships in the future. (This role does not require client meetings, relationship management, or sales of any kind.)

Job perks:

  • Full-time position with flexible hours: We need you to be online and working between 9 am – 1 pm ET, for collaboration on Slack and scheduled meetings. Beyond that, you can structure your days however you work best.
  • Work with a client-focused organization: We focus on quality over quantity, with client selection and the work we deliver. Our directors actively work on websites and SEO, so we know what’s involved in getting a desired result for clients – we carefully manage our time, focus, and resources to avoid overloading and burnout.
  • A fun and supportive team: We’re an agile and inclusive team. We all want to help each other be the best professionals we can be, share our knowledge, and strive to create a (remote) work environment that feels good to be part of.
  • 3 weeks paid time off (+ many more): You get 15 days paid time off, plus stat holidays in Canada and some extra days we close for business so the entire team can recharge. Also, we close for the week between Christmas and New Year – and you get paid to enjoy your holiday.
