About the position

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our IT Operations Team based in our Manila office. This is a permanent role to help maintain and support the database systems which support our critical business applications. The team provides essential IT services to the business to ensure our key systems and applications are enabling the business to achieve great outcomes for our customers. You will join our team of technical specialists and work closely with our Senior Database Administrator to ensure we provide the best possible levels of performance and reliability within our database systems environment. This role will be collaborating closely with our software development team as enhancements and changes to the application environment are deployed. It is essential you are a team player and comfortable working closely with software development teams to assist in getting the applications operating efficiently and reliably. Our IT Team is focused on keeping our end users productive so they can provide great service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day database administration tasks to ensure the best possible reliability and performance
  • Investigation and troubleshooting of technical issues within the database systems environment
  • Maintain documentation for the database systems environment
  • Proactively recommend improvements or enhancements to the database systems
  • Provide support to projects requiring changes to the database systems
  • Ensure the AWS environment meets business requirements for reliability and is running efficiently
  • Collaborate with the team on support of production environment and ensure incidents are resolved as quickly as possible

Essential Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 years database administration experience in a complex enterprise environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Industry certifications in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
  • Experience administering contemporary database systems - Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB
  • Database and Server performance monitoring, tuning and capacity planning
  • Solid understanding of backup and restore processes for databases
  • Amazon RDS experience
  • Windows Server and Linux Systems management in a business critical, enterprise environment
  • At least 2 years' experience in management of complex enterprise applications and services within an AWS public cloud environment
  • Experience working with a micro services, containerised and web-based application environment
  • Contemporary DevOps Tools & Practices – AWS Cloud Formation, AWS CDK
  • Experience with continuous deployment tools - Jenkins and BitBucket
  • Experience in working closely with software development teams to support the automation of deployment processes
  • Excellent Scripting Ability – Python, Bash, Powershell
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networks
  • Systems & Network security – server hardening, endpoint security, vulnerability management, risk management
  • Proactive approach to systems management and support
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work calmly under pressure, meet tight deadlines and see tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of ITIL service management practices - Incident, Request, Problem, Change

Additional Relevant Skills & Experience

  • IT Systems management in a Financial Services environment
  • Experience with managing AWS Redshift
  • Experience with administering UniVerse databases & associated applications
  • Experience using Atlassian Jira & Confluence
  • Knowledge of agile application development and continuous deployment practices

About you

Ideally you will have experience working within a dynamic IT service and support environment. Exposure to the Financial Services sector and an awareness of the audit & compliance requirements for IT will be highly regarded. You will need to be a team player, have strong customer service skills and be able to manage priorities across several areas simultaneously. You like to take an energetic and proactive approach to end user support. You are good at thinking on your feet, solving difficult problems quickly and providing work arounds where suitable until a final fix is available.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All candidates must be Work From Home / WFH-Capable :

  • PC/Laptop with atleast Core i7 (quad core), 16gb minimum, 256gb SSD minimum, Windows 10 Pro 64bit.
  • 10mbps minimum internet speed.
  • Of course an ideal work space set-up for optimized work productivity is a given.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Php60,000.00 - Php100,000.00 per month
