We are seeking an experienced Data Lead to help drive Version 1’s Ireland Data business growth. The position will be working as part of our Digital & Cloud Practice which operates across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Version 1’s Data business is growing rapidly in scale and includes engineers, consultants and architects working across different technologies, supporting delivery into all Portfolios in Ireland/Northern Ireland.
The role of Ireland Data Lead will be to support pre-sales and technical delivery demands across the whole portfolio, there will also be team management duties as part of this role, and they can also influence how the team structure develops over time as it matures. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact with the Ireland teams from commercial and Portfolio delivery. The role will be to support the development of Data opportunities through direct involvement in pre-sales or engaging back into the wider Practice Portfolio Directors to bring in the required support from the wider technical teams. Working on proposals, ToRs and bids will be a key part of this role, as will supporting, assessing, and approving Delivery estimates and pricing.
Strong understanding of Version 1’s Data Services is essential for this role as is strong communication skills and Version 1 organisational awareness. Although delivery of contracted projects will be responsibility of each portfolio, there will be a requirement to support the portfolios in our goal of achieving technical Excellence in delivery. It is expected that this role will require regular travel to Irish customer sites for pre-sales meetings and commercial presentations.
- Working closely with the Sales/Commercial team to support them with new Data customer opportunities.
- To provide technical and design leadership to a highly skilled and motivated expert technical team.
- To design solutions that make use of the newest technologies and industry best practices.
- Technical ownership for a Data project, covering technology road-map alignment, estimation, project planning, user story/requirement creation and full development lifecycle.
- Marshall teams to ensure excellent quality and consistency.
- Pull together estimates from teams for future work.
- Driving and implementing non-functional requirements for customers
- Communicate technical designs in conversation, documentation, and presentations to stakeholders of various technical abilities.
- Make effective decisions within fast-moving delivery.
- Mentoring, coaching, and developing members of the Ireland Data Community.
- Identify opportunities to add value to the customer in the management and delivery of its Data landscape.
- Working with business analysts and end-users to elicit requirements & assist in developing design specifications for short-, medium- and long-term future state architectures.
- Identifying technology trends and deriving relevant IT proposals, including migration strategies.
- Engaging with the software development lifecycle, providing design and technical coaching to project business analysts, data architects, development teams, test management, and project managers.
Essential criteria:
- Experience working with solutions in the Cloud including Microsoft's Azure platform and AWS
- Strong background in Data Engineering, Architecture, Solution Design, and documentation
- Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, PowerApps and Power BI
- Strong familiarity of the Azure DevOps toolset & Microsoft Azure related Certifications
- Proven track record of implementing end-to-end data solutions and ELT/ETL pipeline development skills
- Strong SQL experience both within the SQL Azure space and on prem
- Ability to communicate well with key stakeholders and non-technical audiences
- Experience in leading data engineering projects
- Experience working with large-scale data environments in a data engineering role
- A demonstrable track record in a similar role is a necessity for this role.
